So as to remain true to my word, here is an example of a left-wing group that got banned by Twitter. The Guerilla Socialists (@GuerrilaDems) are supporters of Bernie Sanders and critics of Hillary Clinton under the hashtag #WhichHillary. (It's easy to guess what that hashtag means.) A few days after a Twitter exec held a fundraiser for Clinton -- and it looks like two days before the South Carolina Democratic primary -- @GuerillaDems was shut down, supposedly by Twitter's automated spam detector. They say the #WhichHillary hashtag also got suppressed. At least they got a more specific explanation than "violating the Twitter Rules...around participating in targeted abuse" -- though like McCain, @GuerrilaDems were not informed which tweet was in violation. Unlike McCain, @GuerrilaDems got an apology, and a reversal of the ban. Guerrilla Socialists @GuerrillaDems Feb 26 It looks like @Twitter caved after people started posting on #WhichHillaryCensored about our plight. Thanks to all of you who spoke out. I think I'm going to start calling that "left-wing privilege." (Hat tip to Instapundit.) | |
