Photo from Alberta captures something about the Canadian 'tude. There are worse things than being hyper-focused on maintaining the quality of daily life whatever else is going on.

 On Kathy Griffin's apology
I have two objections to Griffin's bizarre apology yesterday, which went from "broken victim" to "Trump attacker" because he'd messed with "the wrong redhead." Attacking Trump is great but her approach is disastrous and only destroys the possibility of being effectively anti-Trump. One objection is moral and cultural. the other is libertarian and political.

I have sympathy for Griffin on one point only: no violence -- personal or state -- should be directed toward her for a non-violent expression of free speech. Otherwise, no sympathy because,,,

1. She has been utterly and incessantly vicious to innocent people, such Palin's children. In December of last year, she stated, “I’m happy to deliver beat down to Donald Trump — and also to Barron. You know a lot of comics are going to go hard for Donald, my edge is that I’ll go direct for Barron. I’m going to get in ahead of the game.”
2. Defenders who say her career should not be over are conflating two entirely separate things: freedom of speech and the alleged 'right' to a career. The public reaction to Griffin has been profoundly libertarian. Few people are calling for censorship or state sanction. Many are refusing to buy her services; it is called a boycott. Yes, she has a right to performance art. No, she doesn't have a right to people buying her services.

 Fifty Ways to Lose Elections
"Weird Brad" here. What the hell is Hillary Clinton, who probably couldn't name a single programming language, doing at CodeCon? Returning to her favorite theme, of course -- the many not-her-fault reasons why she lost the presidential election to Donald Trump. (I expect years from now her tombstone will read "I should have been President.")

Let it go, lady...or at least set it to music:

Fifty Ways to Lose Elections
(to the tune of "Fifty Ways to Leave Your Lover" -- lyrics, YouTube)
