Advice to homeless father who cannot pay child support
Yesterday I asked readers to send in advice and information for a homeless fellow who is facing the possibility of jail time for his inability to pay child support. I forwarded the advice to him and (with permission) I am reprinting an email of advice below in the hope that it may be of general assistance to anyone who is currently in conflict with "the system."

A blog reader advises, He needs to work the system, create a paper trail that proves he understands his responsibilities and is trying hard to take care of himself so he can provide for his child.

Appeal to readers for advice and information
I receive a fair amount of mail from desperate people who are confronting "the system" in one manifestation or another, and there is usually very little I can do for them other than recommend some online support networks. I am posting an email I received yesterday in the hope that a reader will have some more useful information or advice for the following fellow. If so, then please write to wendy©wendymcelroy.com and I will forward the message. Thank you.

Hello Wendy,
My name is James ---------------- Citizen Journalist, Occupy Activist, facing jail time for non-payment of support, I'm writing to you today regarding your article on Deadbeat Dads. I was wondering if you had any suggestions for fathers like me that have not been offered gainful employment and are now homeless? I am a veteran (no war) with some college education and significant training and experience in many different types of work, ranging from laborer to manager, landscaper supervisor, heavy equipment operator, and PC tech. It's been nearly 2 years since I have worked for anyone that payed well enough to "survive". My last job was as a dishwasher for $9/hr and the CSE unit wants to RAISE my support obligation from $300 to $380 even though they know my situation (I requested the mod.) and the judge has now ordered mediation, and then a potential "trial". This trial may include charges against me for not being able to pay my support obligation, which could result in my going to jail. Please help! I could use pro bono attorney suggestions if you have any.

Download your own 3D gun blueprint now!
Update: one of the three sites has been already taken down.

By now you know that Defense Distributed has been forced to take down the blueprint for its 3D gun from the internet. Of course, the State Department cannot 'recall' the 100,000+ copies of the blueprint that have already e-circulated. If you wish to add to that number, then the 3D gun blueprint is still available at the following sites (links courtesy of shtfplan.com. Please check that site for updates):

----Pirate Bay torrent download information: http://thepiratebay.sx/torrent/8449468/Liberator_-_First_3D_Printable_Gun
----Or at: http:// thepiratebay.sx/torrent/8444391/DefDist_Liberator_Pistol (see note below)
----ZIP FILE: http://www.fatguyinmontana.com/2013/05/07/defense-distributed-liberator-pistol/

3D printers, specifically the Cube 3D printer, are available for retail purchase from Staples at a cost of $1299.

Brad update, 9 am: The "zip file" link has been taken down. The two torrent links above led me to a page that wanted to install downloader software; I am always suspicious of such. A better option is to visit http://thepiratebay.sx/ and do a search for "Liberator", then download one of the 2.02 MB "physibles" files. This link might take you directly there. Click on the little magnet symbol. I don't trust the 5.91 MB file -- it may be that something has been added to it.

Further update: the mistake I made with the two torrent links above was to click the big green "Download Now" button. Don't do that. Instead, click on the "Get This Torrent" link farther down the page.

Further update, 10 am: Joe Huffman has been savvy enough to post the md5sum of the authentic file: 26DE1E830AC58C078650B69C4D34602E.

Note: I have disabled the link on the second torrent URL above; that's for the 5.91 MB file. I think that may be the "unzipped" archive, which would explain the larger size; but until someone verifies its legitimacy I'd suggest avoiding it. - Brad

 Creating the Stasi American
My article "Creating the Stasi American" has just been published by the highly-recommended The Dollar Vigilante site. Take a moment to browse the freedom it offers to your future and your family. Click here.

Excerpt: The Palm Beach, Florida police program is the first of its kind in America. The Community Partners Against Terrorism (CPAT) initiative sprang out of the half-billion dollars dropped into Urban Area Security grants by the Department of Homeland Security. CPAT's founder Sheriff Ric Bradshaw explains the purpose of the new police hot line that solicits anonymous tips: “We want people to call us if the guy down the street says he hates the government, hates the mayor, and he’s gonna shoot him. What does it hurt to have somebody knock on a door and ask, ‘Hey, is everything OK?’” Bradshaw wants to know who mutters against “the system” and who hangs a “Don't Tread on Me” banner on a bedroom wall. A video on his website urges local citizens to report on suspicious activity such as the photographing of a bridge. Click here to access the entire article.
