I've been aware, ever since Wendy wrote "The Bland Old Flag", that many of the residents of the U.S. are seriously humor-impaired. And, as they say, "irony's not really a high priority." So it comes as little surprise that some folks on the right didn't realize that the New Yorker was sending them up with their now-notorious Obama cover. What does come as a surprise is that some people on the left missed this, too.

So, my thanks to Tom Tomorrow for pointing me to another, even less subtle, example of the genre.
