Spreading the wealth Show your support:
T.L. writes, Yesterday on my way to breakfast at the Original Pancake House, I passed a homeless guy at the corner of the parking lot, with a sign that read 'Vote Obama, I need the money.' Once inside the restaurant, I sat down to have a nice breakfast, two eggs, toast, and orange juice. My waiter was fast, efficient and courteous, but I could not help but notice the 'Obama '08' tee shirt.
“So you like Obama and his government policies? †I said.
The waiter said, “Yes I personally feel it’s about time we have a loving and caring government that redistributes the wealth of this great country fairly for all.â€
Well if you know me, you can guess what happened next. When the bill came, I explained to the waiter that he had given me exceptional service, but his tee shirt made me realize we should all start practicing Obama’s message of a “ loving and caring government †and we should “redistribute the wealth fairly at home†. He seemed to agree, nodding his head slowly up and down with a proud look, as if I was starting to get it. So then I told him I was going to play the part of a “loving and caring government†and redistribute his $3 tip to someone that I deemed more in need------and I pointed out the window to the homeless guy outside. My waiter stood there in disbelief and angrily stormed away. I went outside, gave the homeless guy $3 and told him to thank the waiter inside, as I had decided he could use the money more. The homeless guy looked at me in disbelief but seemed grateful. As I got in my truck, I realized this rather unscientific redistribution experiment had left the homeless guy quite happy for the money he did not earn, but the waiter was pretty angry that I gave away the money he did earn. Well, I guess this redistribution of wealth is going to take a while to catch on with those doing the work. Here is to spreading the wealth, one person at a time….
