Paul lies through his eye teeth

A correspondent who was worked closely with Ron Paul's LP campaign in '88 writes of Paul's appearance on Meet the Press:
It is interesting to watch Paul lie through his eye teeth. Now he is denying that he was for the abolition of state education in his 1988 LP campaign. I've seen him deny, in the past, that in that campaign he supported free immigration and abolition of the INS. Apparently he wasn't in the same campaign as the rest of the LP. This time they had an exact quote on immigration from 1988 and he claimed that he always got in trouble "with libertarians" because he allegedly told libertarians that his support for immigration (in 1988) was contingent on it not becoming "an invasion". Now peaceful people seeking work is an "invasion". Of course, I remember no such "trouble" in 1988 or any such statement. I don't understand the cultism of the Paulists that allows people, who actually know better, to get call Paul "Mr. Principle". There are people out there who supported him 1988 who have to know he is lying.
I'm with you (you knew that of course) that the sooner Paul becomes a footnote in the campaign the better. And when that happens I wonder what all these Paulists will think they accomplished other than changing the meaning of libertarianism in the public's perception to one of xenophobic, Right-wing populism...
