Those by-the-book guys, the Recording Industry Ass. of America, have decided to withdraw their filesharing lawsuit against a Texas grandmother. It seems that the RIAA's hired snoops, MediaSentry, aren't licensed investigators, as required by Texas law. Oopsie.

Similar charges have been raised in Oregon. No word yet on whether MediaSentry or the RIAA will face criminal charges.

If you know of anyone facing an RIAA lawsuit, have them check their state's private-investigator laws.
